Stacia Wetherington is a non-profit leader with more than 25 years of experience in grant writing, grant management and development, including donor development, major gifts, annual and capital campaigns, and endowments. She excels in matching fundraising methods to the mission, as well as to the demographics and characteristics of potential donors, supporters and grantmakers. Wetherington is also highly skilled in foundation relations. Her particular areas of expertise include increasing organization visibility; identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship; researching sources of support based on guidelines and interest; and maintaining strong lines of communication. Wetherington is also highly skillful at managing internal and external resources to get the job done. A personal and business passion for holistic sustainability and shared value drive her bottom-line results centered on economic and social transformation. To this end, Wetherington works within a 360 degree strategy to drive print and online marketing and communications material that supports development and donor cultivation. These include: annual reports, newsletters, brochures, direct mail, press releases, videos, web blogs, web pages and social media platforms that are specific to development and fundraising. Wetherington has held executive and managerial positions as Chief Development Officer, Foundation Relations Manager, Grants and Communications Manager, and Program Manager. She has been a March of Dimes Walk and Event Planner and Coordinator, and a Station Chairman for the American Red Cross in Landstuhl, Germany. Landstuhl Regional Medical Center is an overseas military hospital operated by the U.S. Army and U.S. Department of Defense. It is the largest military hospital outside of the continental United States and serves as the nearest treatment center for wounded soldiers coming from Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as military personnel and their families stationed in the European Union. Wetherington has worked in various fields and markets, to include: at-risk youth, women’s health, disability rights, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, homelessness, hunger, environmental protection, conservation, public lands, immigration, fine arts and K-12 STEM education. Her diverse development and foundation relations experience are reflected in the impressive organizations she has worked with. A short-list includes: Wetherington is also skilled and highly experienced at working with small and medium-sized non-profits, where she has raised millions of dollars in private, corporate and government grants, which is her special area of expertise. Her knowledge of both the private and public funding spheres is comprehensive. Wetherington has copious experience not only starting new development programs but also taking existing development programs to the next level through a finely tuned system of strategic analysis. She designs, implements and manages comprehensive and proactive development plans focused on expanding relationships. Wetherington also focuses on the important role of building awareness in order to build and expand fundraising relationships. She works diligently to cultivate a non-profit’s value proposition and points of differentiation from its competition in order to selectively and successfully match areas of interest. Wetherington’s other areas of expertise include: board development, events and event management, and volunteer development and management. Regarding the latter, she assesses the uniqueness of every organization in order to recruit volunteers that achieve the following: save the organization money; bring needed skills, energy and excitement; increase community ownership; support organizational development; and bring capacity to the mission and its programs. Since a volunteer plan involves many stakeholders, Wetherington works proactively to engage with organizational leaders, such as the executive director and board members, and staff members to bring about the desired results. With respect to events, she is skillful in all project management aspects of the creation, development and implementation of small and large scale events, such as annual dinners, festivals, conferences, meetings, parties, conventions, seminars and internal educational opportunities like in-services. Wetherington received her B.A. from Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas, with a dual major in Political Science and Sociology. Her Masters in Public Administration, with a focus in Non-Profit Management, is also from Texas Tech University. Wetherington has a Paralegal Certificate from George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. She is currently working on her Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Communications at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Penn., where she is an Adjunct Professor teaching undergraduate courses in business and professional communications. Wetherington is deeply committed to the mission of non-profits and service to others. As such, she has been an actively engaged volunteer, particularly in the area of youth services.
